1960 - Bir grup üniversite hocası, demokrasi yanlısı eylemci öğrenciyi bastırmak için polis kuvvetini kullanan Başkan Rhee Syng-man’in otokrat hükümetini suçlayan bir bildiri yayınladı. Yüzlerce öğrenci yurt çapındaki hükümet karşıtı protestoları tetikleyen 19 Nisan 1960’taki çarpışmada hayatını kaybetti ya da yaralandı. Rhee istifa etmeye zorlandı ve Hawai’de gönüllü sürgüne gitti.

1965 - Güney Kore Bolivya ile diplomatik ilişkiler kurdu.

1960 - A group of college professors issues a statement accusing the autocratic government of President Rhee Syng-man of using police force to crack down on pro-democracy student protesters. Several hundred students were killed or injured in a clash on April 19, 1960, triggering nationwide anti-government protests. Rhee was forced to step down and went into self-imposed exile in Hawaii.

1965 - South Korea establishes diplomatic relations with Bolivia.

1932 - Yun Bong-gil, o zamanki Japon İmparator Hirohito’nun doğum günü kutlaması için toplandıkları Şangay’daki bir parkta Japon görevliye saldırdı. Koreli aktivist Japonya’nın Kore üzerindeki kolonizasyonuna karşı protestoda, kürsüde yemek kutusunun içine sakladığı iki bombayı patlatarak yedi Japon üst düzey ordu liderini öldürdü. Yun o yıldan sonra Japonya’da idam edildi.

1975 - Vietnam Savaşı’nın bitiminde Saigon’daki Güney Kore Büyükelçiliği kapandı.

1932 - Yun Bong-gil attacks Japanese officials at a park in Shanghai where they gathered to celebrate the birthday of then Japanese Emperor Hirohito. The Korean activist threw two bombs he had hidden in lunch boxes onto the podium, killing seven top Japanese military leaders, in protest against Japan's colonization of Korea. Yun was executed in Japan later that year.

1975 - The South Korean Embassy in Saigon closes at the end of the Vietnam War.

1923 – Seoul’de ilk Çocuk Günü kutlandı. Kendini çocuklarla ilgili meselelere adayan bir çocuk yazar olan Bang Jung-hwan, Çocuk Günü fikrini ortaya atan ilk kişidir. Daha sonra, Güney Kore hükümeti tarihi 5 Mayıs olarak değiştirmiştir.

1948 – Güney Kore geçici hükümeti, Bölge Mahkemesi, Yüksek Mahkeme ve Temyiz Mahkemesi’nin kullanımını kapsayan üçlü mahkeme sistemini tanıttı.

1923 - The first Children's Day is celebrated in Seoul. Bang Jung-hwan, a children's author who was devoted to children's issues, was the first person to come up with the idea of Children's Day. The South Korean government later changed the date to May 5.

1948 - The South Korean transitional government introduces the three-trial system, involving the use of the District Court, High Court and Supreme Court.

1972– Güney Kore'nin istihbarat teşkilatının başı olan Lee Hu-rak, tarihi bir Koreler arası anlaşmaya aracılık yapmak için Başkan Park Chung-hee'nin emriyle Kuzey Kore'ye gizli bir gezi yaptı

1992 – Güney Kore ve Çin Yatırımların Teşvik Edilmesi ve Karşılıklı Korunması anlaşması imzaladı.

1998– Kore Little Angels Çocuk Halk Balesi onlarca üyesinin şefleri Pak Bo-hi ile birlikte Kuzey'in Asya Pasifik Barış Komitesi'nin davetlisi olarak iki Kore arasındaki değişim tarihindeki şimdiye kadarki en büyük grup olarak Pyongyang'ı ziyaret etti.

2013– Kuzey Kore, Kore-Amerikan tur operatörü Kenneth Bae’yi belirtilmemiş devlet karşıtı suçlar nedeniyle 15 yıllık ağır ceza verdi. Bae turizm amacıyla ülkeye geldikten sonra, 3 Kasım 2012 tarihinde tutuklandı.

1972 - Lee Hu-rak, head of South Korea's state intelligence agency, makes a secret trip to North Korea under the order of President Park Chung-hee to broker a historic inter-Korean agreement.

1992 - South Korea and China sign the Agreement on the Encouragement and Reciprocal Protection of Investments.

1998 - Dozens of members of the Little Angels Children's Folk Ballet of Korea, along with its chief, Pak Bo-hi, visit Pyongyang as the largest-ever group in the history of exchanges between the two Koreas at the invitation of the North's Asia Pacific Peace Committee.

2013 - North Korea sentences Korean-American tour operator Kenneth Bae to 15 years of hard labor on charges of unspecified anti-state crimes. Bae was arrested on Nov. 3, 2012, after arriving in the country for tourism purposes.
