Çok yüksek duvarlar tarafından çevrili olan bu saraylar, 500 yıl boyunca varlığını sürdüren Yi Hanedanı zamanında 14. yüzyıl sonlarında imparatorlar tarafından yaptırılmıştır. Bazıları zaman içinde yıkılmış ve yok olmuş olsa da çok büyük bir araziye yayılmış bulunan bu sarayların hepsini gezmek birkaç gününüzü alacaktır.

Bugünkü saray hanedanının yaşadığı ve Seoul'un en eski sarayı olan Ch'angdokkung Sarayı'nı yalnızca rehberli bir tur eşliğinde görebilirsiniz. Çok sıkı güvenlik önlemleri altında korunan bu sarayın içinde 32 hektarlık muhteşem bir Gizli Bahçe bulunuyor. Koreliler'in inancına göre Gizli Bahçe'de bulunan Pullomun kapısının altından geçenler sonsuza kadar genç kalıyor.
