Tongmyeongjeon Hall (Changgyeonggung)

Kraliçenin Yatak Odası

Tongmyeongjeon, Kraliçe’nin konutu ve ziyafet salonu olarak kullanılırdı. Changgyeong Sarayı’nın içini oluşturan yapıların en büyüğüdür. Diğer bir belirgin özelliği ise çatı kıvrımındaki eksiklik. Temel taşları veya woldae üstünde duran, kadın saray halkına ayrılmış tek ana salondur. Kral Sunjo’nun (hükümranlık: 1800-1834) binanın tabelasına işlediği Çince karakterler burada açıkça görülür.

Burası, Krallar ve Kral ailesinin yaşadığı Yeonjo bölgesindeki ana binaydı. Sarayın birçok binası gibi Tongmyeonjeon da inşa edildiği 1484 yılından bu yana defalarca yıkılmış ve son defa 1834’te, Kral Sunjo tarafından yeniden yaptırılmıştır. 7 kan genişlik ve 4 kan yüksekliğindeki bu yapının, çift katmanlı saçağı olan kırma beşik çatısı vardır. Tek katmanlı Woldae terasın, tepesinde çıkıntı olmayan bir çatısı ve sütunlar üzerinde basit, güzel çift kanatlı kolları vardır. Yapının her tarafındaki kafesli kapıların üzerine kafesli pencereler yerleştirilmiştir. Tongmyeongjeon’un hem önünde hem arka tarafında taraça vardır. Kuzeybatı bölümü hariç iç kısım kafesli desenle donatılmıştır. 1984 kazısı, merkezdeki 4 kan’lık alanın aslında, ısıtma borularının bulunduğu odalar olduğunu doğruladı. Tavan üzerindeki taraçalar kağıt kaplıyken tavan kafes desenlidir.

Tongmyeongjeon Salonu Yakınındaki Gölet(818 No’lu Hazine)

Kare gölet, 12m boyunda ve 5.2m genişliktedir. Gölete uzun kare taşlar dizilmiş ve taş yolu zarifçe şekillendirilmiştir. 59.4cm genişlikteki ve 256cm uzunluktaki köprü batıdan doğuya uzanır. Gölette ilginç iki taş ve nülüfer şekilli bir oturak vardır. Göletin suyu, 4.6m uzaklıktaki bir çeşmeden su kanalında yaptığı seyehatin ardından gölete dökülür. Kral Seongjong’un Yıllıkları’na göre suyu taşımak için bakır bir su kanalı vardı (818 No’lu Hazine).

Tongmyeong Hall, the queen's bedroom

Tongmyeongjeon was used as the queen's quarters and as a banqueting hall. The biggest of the buildings constituting the inner Changgyeong Palace, another notable feature is its absence of a ridge on the roof, a characteristic of other residences used by queens. Moreover, it is the only main hall for female royalty that stands on weoldae, or foundation stones. The handiwork of another king is evident here, that of King Sunjo (r. 1800-1834) who wrote the Chinese characters on the building's name plaque.
This was the main building in the Yeonjo area where kings and their families lived. Like many buildings of the palace, Tongmyeongjeon had been burnt down several times since it was first built in 1484 during the reign of King Seongjong to be rebuilt for the last time in 1834 by King Sunjo. This 7 kan wide and 4 kan deep building has a hipped-and-gabled roof with double-tiered eaves. This building on a single-tier Woldae terrace has a roof without the ridge on top and has simple, graceful double-wing brackets atop columns. Latticed doors are installed all around the building and latticed windows are above them. Tongmyeongjeon has each veranda in front and rear. Except for the north-western section, the inside wooden floor is laid out in a large lattice pattern. The 1984 excavation confirmed that the 4 kan space in the center had originally been rooms where traces of heating flues were found. The ceilings of the inside hall are latticed, while the ceiling above the verandas is papered.

Pond Near Tongmyeongjeon Hall

This square pond is 12.8m long and 5.2m wide. The pond is lined with long square stones and has exquisitely sculptured stone rails. A simple 59.4cm-wide and 256cm-long stone bridge is spanned from west to east. There are two fantastic stones and a lotus-shaped stand in the pond. The water of this pond is drawn into the pond from a fountain 4.6m away to the north. The fountain water cascades down into the pond after traveling a straight stone waterway. According to The Annals of King Seongjong, there had been a copper waterway to bring the fountain water to the pond. (Treasure No. 818)
