Sillaoreung (Five Tombs in the Silla Period)

Oreung (Bes yigin) Gyeongju’nun asagi güneybatisinda bulunur. Onlarin kimin kabirleri oldugu süphelidir. Samguksagi (Üç kralligin tarihi) (57B.C.-A.D.935).

Bu bes mezarlik Silla kralliginin kurucusu olan Kral Hyeokgeose'nin, Kraliçe Aryeong’in, ikinci Kral Namhae’nin, üçüncü Kral Yuri’nin, besinci Kral Pasa’nin kabirleri olarak kaydedilmistir.

Üç Krallik Dönemine ait tarih kitaplarinda anlatilan bir efsaneye göre ise; Kral Hyeokgeose'nin 62 yil hükümdarlik yapar ve cennete yükselir. 7 gün sonra onun vücudu 5 parçaya ayrilir ve cennetten asagiya düser. Insanlar bir kabre kralin vücudunun bes parçasini gömmeyi dener. Büyük bir yilan bunu engeller. Kralin vücut parçalari 5 ayri mezara gömülür ve böylece 5 kabir olusmustur.

Located on the southwest to the downtown of Gyeongju, the Oreung(Five Mounds) is uncertain whose tombs they are. Samguksagi(The History of the Three Kingdoms) records that these five mounds are the tombs of King Hyeokgeose, the founder of the Silla Kingdom(57B.C.-A.D.935), his queen Aryeong, Namhae, its second king, Yuri, its third king, and Pasa, its fifth king. On the other hand, Samgungnyusa, another history book about the Three Kingdoms Period, says that King Hyeokgeose ascended to heaven after ruling for 62 years and that seven days later, his body, torn into five pieces, fell down from heaven, at which time his queen died after him. As the people tried to bury the five pieces of the king's body in a tomb, a large snake appeared and prevented them from doing so. Hindered by the snake, the people had to bury the royal remains in five separate tombs, and thus it became five mounds. The inside structures of the five tombs have never been studied.
