Seosan, Chungcheong-namdo'nun batısında kalır. Doğusunda, Hongseong-gun, Yesan-gun ve Dangjin-gun batısında ise Taean-gun ve Yellow Sea (Sarı Deniz) ile çevrilidir. Seosan Şehri istiridyeleri ve sarımsakları ile ünlüdür. Ayrıca tarihi Haemi Kalesi’de şehirden 12 km uzaklıktadır. Seosan’da 4 mevsim yaşanmaktadır. Bahara hafif sıcaklıklarda Çin kıyılarından gelen rüzgar eşlik eder. Kore’nin birçok yerinde olduğu gibi tayfunlar Seosan’ı da vurdu. Şans eseri şehirde oluşan zarar az oldu. Ağustos ayında genellikle Seosan’ın en sıcak ve nemli ayıdır. Hava sıcaklığı Eylül’de düşmeye başlar. İlk kar genellikle Kasım ortalarında düşer. Şehrin ortalama yıllık sıcaklığı 11.8 santigrattır.

Seosan is located in the western part of Chungcheong-namdo, the mid-west area of Korea, and bounded by Hongseong-gun, Yesan-gun and Dangjin-gun to the east and Taean-gun and the Yellow Sea to the west. It has an area of 739.46㎢ made up of plains and hill areas with a great potential as the western sea area is being developed.

Seosan has four distinct seasons. In spring, mild temperatures are accompanied by strong winds bearing dust from the Chinese mainland; this dust is called [hwangsa] or Asian Dust. In summer, the monsoon
lasts for about three weeks and is typified by heavy rainfall. As in the rest of Korea, Seosan may be affected by typhoons during the Summer, but fortunately there has been little damage to this city in the past. August is the hottest month and is humid. Fall begins in September and temperatures fall away quickly by November. The first winter snows usually appear in mid November. The average annual temperature is 11.8 degrees celsius.

The famous Korean singer and actor Rain was born here. Another famous singer from Seosan is Star.Seosan is renowned for oysters and garlic. The historic Haemi castle is located about 12km from the city, in Haemi-eup.
