Şehirde, Kore’nin 4 büyük ticaret limanlarından biri olan Pyeongtaek Limanı, Pyeongtaek Enerji Santrali, LNG üssü ve LPG üssü ile ulusal anahtar sanayi tesisleri vardır. Yüzölçümü 453.31km²’dir. Nüfusu Aralık 2008’de 406,721(erkek 206,604 ve bayan 200,117) ve kayıtlı yabancı sayısı ise 10,782(erkek 6,550 ve bayan 4,232) idi.
Pyeongtaek’in yıllık yağış miktarı 1300 mm ve yıllık ortalama sıcaklık 12 ℃dir. Deniz kıyısına 34 km mesafedeki açık alanda bulunduğu için iklimi Sarı Deniz’in ikliminden etkilenmektedir. 3 ekspres yol, bir ekspres demir yolu, Seoul-Busan demir yolu ve metro içeren bütünleşmiş trafik ağına dayalı ticaret ve dağıtım merkezidir. Endüstriyel çalışmalar için en iyi yerlerden biridir ve 1.400’ün üzerinde santral faaliyette bulunmaktadır.
Ayrıca tarım ticareti ile de ünlüdür ve Gyunggi-Me’nin (Gyeonggi Eyaleti’nde üretilen bir pirinç markası) %16’sı ve Pyeongtaek armudu burada üretilmektedir.

Pyeongtaek is the kingpin of the Yellow Sea rim, the contact point to G2(USA and China) which lead the global economy. It has national key industrial facilities including Pyeongtaek Harbor, one of the four biggest trade harbors in Korea, Pyeongtaek Power Plant, LNG bases and LPG bases. Its area is 453.31km² which is 2/3 that of Seoul. Its population is about 406,721(male 206,604 and female 200,117) at the end of December 2008 status quo and the number of registered foreigners living in Pyeongtaek is about 10,782(male 6,550 and female 4,232).
The annual rainfall of Pyeongtaek is about 1,300mm and the annual average temperature is 12℃. Since Pyeongtaek is located at an open field adjacent to 34km seaside line, its climate is affected by the yellow sea's climate. Pyeongtaek is the center of trade and distribution based on an integrated traffic network including three express ways, an express railroad, a Seoul-Busan railroad, and a metropolitan subway. It is one of the best places for an industrial operation and over 1,400 plants are in operation.
It is also famous for agribusiness and 16% of Gyunggi-Me(a rice brand produced in Gyunggi-Do) and Pyeongtaek Pear are produced in Pyeongtaek.
