Wanggeon's Wife and Son / Wanggeon’un Eşi ve Oğlu
Wanggeon, Goryeo’nun kurucusuydu.
Goryeo Kralı olmadan önce, çevre toprakları kuşatmak için Muan yakınında bir köye geldi. Savaşa girmeden önce keşif gezisine çıktığında yorulup susadı. Kuyudan su çekmekte olan bir kızdan su istedi. Kız ona üstünde söğüt yaprakları yüzen bir kap su verdi. Wanggeon'un yüzü asıldı ve kıza “Çok susadım. Sen ise benimle dalga geçiyorsun. Bu yaprakların suyumda ne işi var?” dedi.
Kız dedi ki: “Gördüğüm kadarıyla çok susamışsınız. Suyu bir dikişte içerken genzinize kaçmasından korktum. Yaprakları attım ki alelacele içmeyesiniz.”
Kızın ince düşüncesinden etkilendi. O gece kızın evinde kaldı ve babasından kızı istedi. Ama kızla evlenme niyeti yoktu. Sadece bir geceliğine kalmak istedi. Kızın babası bu adamın sözünün eri biri olduğunu anladı ve herhangi bir düğün olmadan kızla geceyi geçirmesine müsaade etti.
Wanggeon, ilişki sırasında sorun çıkmamasını istedi, bunun için elinden geleni yaptı. Köle, eteği alıp hikâyeyi doğrulamak üzere Kral'a gitti.
Anca etekle birlikte karşısına çıkınca, Kral ilişkiyi onayladı ve oğlu olabileceği iddia edilen çocuğa ilgi gösterdi.
Köle, çocuğu saraya getirdiğinde Kral, çocuğu yasal oğlu olarak kabul etti, onun sarayda yaşamasına izin verdi. Çocuk, annesinin de Kral’ın eşi olarak tanınmasında ısrarcı oldu. Anne de saraya getirildi. Ancak çocuk bununla yetinmedi. Kendisinin Veliaht Prens, annesinin de Kraliçe olmasında diretti.

Wanggeon's Wife and Son
WANGGEON is the founder of GORYEO.
Long before he became the King of GORYEO, WANGGEON came to a village near MUAN to seize the land around. He went scouting before engaging in a battle when he got tired and thirsty.
He asked a maiden drawing water from a well, and she gave him a bowl of water with willow leaves floating on it. He got upset, and said to her,
"I'm very thirsty now, and you are playing tricks on me. What are these leaves doing on my water?
She said,
"As far as I can see, you are very thirsty now. I was afraid that you might choke on the water when you gulp down the water hurriedly. I floated the leaves to keep you from gulping down the water."
He was impressed with her thoughtfulness. That evening he stayed at her house, and asked her father to give her to him, but he had no intention to marry her. He just wanted a one night stand. However, her father found him a man of promise and allowed him to spend the night with her, without any ceremony required on such occassion.
WANGGEON wanted no trouble after the affair, so he tried to hold his ejaculation during the sexual intercourse. The girl, smart as she was, figured out that she could make his wife only when she got pregnant, so tried hard to have him ejaculate inside her. They wrestled, but she prevailed. The next morning when he was leaving, she asked him for a token of their love, and so he wrote on her skirt that he loved her and signed .
The girl got pregnant and gave birth to a boy, and heard of WANGGEON's enthronement in GAESEONG. She stayed in MUAN raising her son, while WANGGEON married several women from different clans to satisfy his political ambition and knew nothing about the baby.
As the boy grew, people called him bastard, and the boy wanted to know who his father was. She explained what happened between her and WANGGEON, and showed him the skirt bearing WANGGEON's signature.
Until then, she had hidden the fact that her boy was WANGGEON's for fear her son should get hurt from the power struggles still going on. But the boy assured her that he would take care of himself and left for GAESEONG with the skirt. He was about 10, but he was smart enough not to brag about his father. When he got to GAESEONG, he volunteered as an errand boy for one of the vassals, who lavished care on the boy as if he were his son. After a year or so, he confided his secret to the vassal, who took his words seriously and took the skirt with him to the King to confirm the boy's story.
Only when he was presented with the skirt did the King admitted the affair and showed interest in the boy who claimed to be his son.
When the vassal brought the boy to the palace, the King recognized him as his legitimate son and allowed him to live in the palace. The boy insisted, though, that the King should recognize his mother as his legitimate wife too.
The King had the boy's mother brought to the palace, but the boy did not settle there. He insisted that he be the Crown Prince, and his mother the Queen.
The King could not refute the boy, and so every thing turned out as the boy wished or as the mother wished. to be exact. Like mother, like son, or was it like father, like son?
