Konu:
Bir süreden beri Seo-hee, sürekli öksüren babasından korkmaktadır. Babası sadece annesini sevmiş biridir. Seo-hee 5 yaşında iken annesi hizmetçilerinden birisi ile kaçmıştır ve küçük kız bunun şokunu yaşamıştır. Kendini hep yalnız hissetmiş ve babası ile kendisini yalnız bıraktığı için annesine karşı intikam duyguları beslemiştir. Kil-sang, Soo-hee’nin dayanabileceği tek kişi olmuştur. Bir gün babası da öldürülür. Soo-hee genç olması sebebiyle, Cho Jun-gu kızın elinden tüm arsaların tapularını alır. Cho Jun-gu, Seo-hee’yi engelli olan Cho Byun-su ile evlenmeye zorlar. Böylece Soo-hee’yi rahatça kontrol edebilecektir. Kil-sang’in yardımıyla yaşamını tehlikeye atıp ülkesinden kaçan Soo-hee, büyük bir tüccar olur, ünü artar. Cho Jun-gu’dan intikam alabilmek için Japonlar ile samimi ilişkiler içerisine girer. Kil-sung ile de evlenir.. Kil-sung düşük mevkiden gelen biridir. Soo-hee Kil-sung gibi düşük mevkiden gelen biri ile evlenerek herkesi şaşırtır. Çiftin iki de çocuğu olur. Buna rağmen.

Synopsis

When she was 5 years old, Seo Hee's mother ran off with one of their servants and she was left with her father, who had never been kind to her. But even this shock did not prepare her for the hardships she would suffer after her father's death, when her relative, Cho Joon Goo, took advantage of her young age and gained possession the legal documents which had marked her as landowner. Throughout these miserable years, her lowly friend Gil Sang became her only source of comfort and support. With his help, Seo Hee escapes being forcibly married to Cho Byun Soo, a disabled man of Joon Goo's choosing, and flees from her hometown. She slowly builds her fortune as a merchant, driven by a desire for revenge on Joon Goo and the ultimate goal of regaining her land.
