Here stands the monument for a successful battle with the record that Yi Seonggye repelled the Japanese army in Mt. Hwangsan in the late Goryeo Dynasty.

The sweeping victory of Hwangsan is so well-known battle historically, so in order to hand down the fact in history forever, the monument for a sweeping victory was erected in the tenth year of King Seonjo (1577). At the time when the monument was erected, a pavilion and a cottage were built to protect the monument but in 1945 the Japanese broke it down, so the pieces just remain. The present monument was rebuilt in 1957.

A red gate with spiked top, the hall for the monument to be kept, the stone-wall, and an annex were newly decorated in 1973.
