S. Korea's Economic Growth Slows in Q2 on Weak Exports
Güney Kore'nin Ekonomik Büyümesi İkinci Çeyrekte Zayıf İhracatlarla Yavaşlıyor

Perşembe günü merkez bankasının verdiği bilgiye göre, Güney Kore'nin ekonomik büyümesi Nisan-Haziran döneminde ihracatın düşmesi nedeniyle önceki çeyreğe göre yavaşladı.
Kore Bankası (BOK), ikinci çeyrekte ülkenin gayri safi yurt içi hasılasının (GSYİH), bir önceki çeyrekte %1,1'lik bir düşüş oranına göre %0,6 oranında arttığını açıkladı.
Açıklamada, Kore ekonomisi için temel direklerden biri olan ihracatın Haziran ayı çeyreğinde üç ay öncesine göre yüzde 3 düştüğü ve Asya'nın dördüncü en büyük ekonomisi olan geçen yılın aynı dönemine göre yüzde 0,1 oranında gerilediği bildirildi.
"Ulaştırma ekipmanı, petrokimya ve kimyasal ürünlerin sevkıyatlarındaki düşüş genel ihracatın düşmesine neden olurken, yarı iletken talebi ikinci çeyrekte de güçlü kaldı" dedi.
Moon Jae-in hükumetinin geliştirdiği tüketici anlayışı, Asya'nın dördüncü en büyük ekonomisini destekledi. BOK, tüketicilerin giysiler ve ayakkabılar üzerinde daha az harcama yaparken ev aletleri ve el cihazları gibi dayanıklı tüketim malları üzerine daha fazla harcadığını belirtti.
Kore ekonomisi yılın ikinci çeyreğinde bir önceki yıla göre bu yılın ilk üç ayında kaydedilen yüzde 2,9'luk kazançtan düşerek yüzde 2,7 oranında büyüdü.
Gayrisafi yurt içi hasılasının, bir önceki çeyrekte kaydedilen 2.6 genişlemesi değişmedi.

South Korea's economic growth slowed in the April-June period from a quarter earlier due to decreased exports, central bank data showed Thursday.
In the second quarter, the country's gross domestic product (GDP) increased 0.6 percent, down from the previous quarter's 1.1 percent gain, the Bank of Korea (BOK) said in a statement.
Exports -- one of the major pillars for the Korean economy -- fell 3 percent in the June quarter compared with three months earlier and declined 0.1 percent from the previous year, which weighed on Asian's fourth-biggest economy, the statement said.
"A decline in shipments of transportation equipment, petrochemicals and chemical products drove down overall exports. But overseas demand for semiconductors remained strong in the second quarter," it said.
Improved consumer sentiment under the Moon Jae-in government supported Asia's fourth-biggest economy. Consumers spent more on durable goods, such as home appliances and handsets while spending less on clothes and shoes, the BOK said.
The Korean economy grew 2.7 percent in the second quarter vis-a-vis the year before, down from 2.9 percent gains posted in the first three months of this year.
Gross domestic income remained unchanged from the previous quarter's 2.6 on-quarter expansion, it said.
