Nojeokbong
Japon işgali sırasında Japonlar, Gogeum Adası’na konuşlandı. Bu sırada, Koreli Başkomutan Lee Sun Sin onlarla savaşmak için hazırlık yapıyordu.
Başkomutan Lee, saman balyalarının ve saman çuvallarının Mokpo’daki Yudal Dağı’na yığılmasını emretti. Japonların bulunduğu yerden bunlar gerçek tahıl yığınları gibi göründü. Korelilerin savaşı çıkaracak kadar erzakları olduğunu sanmalarından dolayı Japonlar, Kore ordusuna hücum etmekte tereddüt ettiler.
Sonradan bu tepeye General’in becerisinin anısına Nojeokbong denildi.

Nojeokbong
During the Japanese Invasion of Korea, the Japanese stationed just off GOGEUM island, where the Korean Commander in Chief, General LEESUNSIN, was preparing to meet the enemy.
He ordered bundles of straw and straw sacks heaped on the top of YUDAL mountain in MOKPO. From where the Japanese stationed, they looked like real stacks of grain, and the Japanese thought that the Korean army had enough provisions ready for the battle, which made them hesitate to make an attack on the Korean army.
Later, people named the mountain top NOJEOKBONG to commemorate the General's resourcefulness.
