Şehrin çevresinde yer alan Samdong-myeon, Jijok Köyü Changseon Köprü'ye bağlı olan Jijok Boğazı'ndaki Changseon-myeon ile temasa geçer. Eski zamanların insanları doğuya doğru geçerek Changseon'a geldiler, geçtiklerinde kendi ayakları üzerinde durmasını bildiler. Bu ''Jijok'' isminin kökenidir. Nüfus artışı 1945 yılında Jijok-1ri ve Jijok-2ri'ye bölünmesine neden oldu. Jijok-1 yaklaşık 200 yıl önce Neomu Pass'taki Giwa Cavern olduğu söylenen Wahyeon takma adıdır. Jijok-2'ye diğer köylerden önce en çok nüfusa sahip olan ve bir köy kurulan 'Bonburak' denir.

Located in the vicinity of downtown Samdong-myeon, Jijok Village contacts Changseon-myeon at Jijok Strait that is connected by Changseon Bridge. As the people of old times came to the east to cross Changseon, they knew that their feet stopped when they were crossing it. This is the origin of the name ‘Jijok’. The population increased caused it to be divided into Jijok-1-ri and Jijok-2-ri in 1945. Jijok-1-ri has the nickname of Wahyeon as there said to have been Giwa Cavern in Neomu Pass about 200 years ago. Jijok-2-ri is called ‘Bonburak’ as it has the most population and formed a village before other villages did.
