Mireuk Temple (미륵사 / Mireuk-sa)

Mireuk tapınağı Worak Vadisi. Suanbo Kaplıcalarının 11 km güney batısında yer alır.
Shilla'nin sonlarında veya Erken Goryeo döneminde yapıldığı tahmin ediliyor.
Tapınakta eskiden kalma Buda heykeli beş katlı taş pagoda,üç katlı taş pagoda,Mireuk taş lambası bulunmaktadır.
Mireuk'ta mağaranın içinde bulunur.Boyutu 9.8 metre x 10.78 metre x 6 metre.
5 katlı bir pagodadır.Hangi döneme ait olduğu bilinmemektedir.
Ana bölümü fazla büyüktür.
2,3 metre uzunluğunda, sekizgen bir fenerdir.Genel tasarımına bakarak Goryeo döneminde yapıldığı kararına varılmıştır.Granitin oyulmasıyla yapılmış,dayanaklı bir fenerdir.
Silla Krallığı döneminde yapılan normal bir pagodadır. Ancak bazı kısımlarında Goryeo Dönemi izleri taşır.

Jungwon Mireuk Temple Site is located along the upper stream of Worak Valley, 11 kilometers southeast of Suanbo Hot Springs. This site, designated Historic Site #317, is believed to have been built during the late Silla or early Goryeo Dynasty. According to legend, Mauitaeja (the last crown prince of United Silla) built it and Deokju-sa on his way to Guemgang-san. Among the ruins are many cultural properties, including a Stone Statue of a Standing Buddha, Five-story Stone Pagoda, Mireuk Stone Lamp, Mireuk Three-story Stone Pagoda, stone mortar, and a stone lantern.
Mireuk Standing Buddha
The stone image of Buddha stands in the Mireuk-sa site. It was designated as Treasure #96 and is placed within a stone cave (Treasure #658). Its dimensions are 9.8 meters x 10.78 meters x 6 meters (high).
Mireuk Pagoda
Because of the construction techniques, this five-story pagoda (designated Treasure #95) is presumed to date back to the Goryeo Kingdom (918-1392). (Legend has it, that it and the nearby Maitreya Bodhisattva were erected by the last crown prince of the Unified Silla Kingdom (668-918), Mauitaeja, but no evidence can confirm it.) The base is converted with two narrow stone plates. The roof stone of the first story is made of two stone plates, but the their roof stones are of one plate. The finial base is so large as to be misunderstood as a main portion.
Granite lantern
This 2.3-meter tall octagonal lantern (designated North Chungcheong Province Tangible Cultural Property #19) was erected during the Goryeo period (918-1392), judging from its overall styling. The base of the pedestal, the lower part of which is decorated with inverted lotus petals, was carved from a single block of granite. The octagonal shaft of the pedestal blends well with the octagonal light chamber, the bottom of which is decorated with lotus petals. The roof of the light chamber is slightly upturned and topped with a granite ball.
Three-story Stone Pagoda of Mireuk-sa
The foundation and the proportioning of this pagoda, which is not completely intact, is typical of pagodas built during the Silla Kingdom (57 B.C - A.D.935). However, the way the cover stone extends over the foundation and the shape of the roof stones suggest that it may have been built during the early part of the Goryeo Kingdom (918-1392).
