Kariyeri

Ulusal Kore Üniversitesinde, Güzel Sanatlar Tiyatro bölümünde okudu. 2002'de "The Rocky Horror Show" müzikaliyle çıkış yaptı.
Uzun yıllar sadece küçük rollerde yer alsa da, 2007'de büyük bir beğeni toplayan tip dizisi "White Tower" ile bir atılım gerçekleştirdi ve romantik dizi "The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince" ile de çok popüler oldu. Coffee Prince'in dışında iki kez daha yönetmen Lee Yon-jung ile çalıştı: 2005'de Spor konulu "Taereung National Village" ve 2009'da hayattan bir kesit sunan dizi "Triple".
Lee, 2007'de Health Insurance Review Agency'de bir büyükelçi rolünü aldı ve 2008'de Kore Reklamcılık Kurumundan bir ödül aldı.

Uzun süre çıktığı kız arkadaşı, aktris Jeon Hye-jin ile 23 Mayıs 2009'da evlendi. 25 Kasım 2009'da ve 9 Ağustos 2011'de doğan iki erkek çocukları vardır.

Career

Lee studied theater at the Korea National University of Arts. In 2002, he debuted in the musical The Rocky Horror Show.[1]
Relegated to small supporting roles for many years, he achieved his breakthrough in 2007 with the critically lauded medical series White Tower and the highly popular romantic drama The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince. Besides Coffee Prince, he has worked with director Lee Yoon-jung two other times—in the sports-themed Taereung National Village in 2005, and in slice-of-life drama Triple in 2009.[2]
Lee was appointed as ambassador for the Health Insurance Review Agency in 2007, and won an award from the Korea Advertisers Association in 2008.[1]
Despite his burgeoning fame, Lee then turned to low-budget arthouse films to polish his acting caliber. He starred in three projects by Hong Sang-soo, a director renowned for his realistic portrayal of ordinary lives.[3] Lee also headlined Paju, the long-awaited follow-up to director Park Chan-ok's Jealousy is My Middle Name.[4] He later won the Best Actor award at the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival held in Spain for Paju. Film distributor Myung Film quoted the judging committee as handing Lee high points for portraying the anguish his character felt for loving his wife's younger sister. This is the first acclaim that Lee has received at a film festival since his debut.[5]
With Pasta (in which he played a brilliant-but-abrasive chef opposite Gong Hyo-jin) Lee successfully shook off his "gentle" TV drama image,[6] and the series' popularity made him a bankable romantic leading man.[7][8][9] Petty Romance reunited him with his My Sweet Seoul co-star Choi Kang-hee,[10][11] and one-upmanship action comedy The Apprehenders soon followed.[12][13]
Lee showed his support for the revival of Drama Special (formerly Drama City) by starring in Our Slightly Risque Relationship (for which he later won at the KBS Drama Awards). He has continually defended the importance of the short drama format as a training ground for young talent, acknowledging their contribution to his own career.[14]
He next starred in mystery thriller Helpless, the Korean film adaptation of Japanese novelist Miyabe Miyuki's novel All She Was Worth.[15] In romantic comedy All About My Wife, Lee's character is married to an outwardly perfect woman (Im Soo-jung) who in reality is the worst wife possible but is too timid to divorce her, so he hires a Casanova (Ryu Seung-ryong) to seduce her.[16][17]

Personal Life

Lee married his longtime girlfriend, actress Jeon Hye-jin (I'm Sorry, I Love You, Romance Hunter) on May 23, 2009.[18][19] Their twin sons were born on November 25, 2009,[20] and August 9, 2011.[21]
