Jongno-gu, Seul’un 25 bölgesinden biridir. Seul’un tam merkezindedir. Adını bir caddeden almıştır. (Caddenin Adı: Zil Caddesiymiş. Herhalde bu bölgenin adı da zil ile ilgili bir şey) Jongno-gu, 600 yıldan beri şehrin merkezidir. Yani yaklaşık olarak Joseon hanedanı zamanından beri. Jongno-gu’nun ekonomi, politika ve kültürdeki önemli yerinden dolayı Kore’nin kalbi gibidir. Jongno-gu tarihte büyük kişilere ev sahipliği yapmıştır. Birçok kral bu bölgede yaşamıştır.
