Yi Hanedani sirasinda bir kadin kocasini salgin hastalik yüzünden kaybetmis idi. Kadin özel, sadik ve erdemli biriydi. Bir gün bir yetkili köy yolundan geçerken o yalniz ve güzel bayana rastlamis ve ona birlikte yasamasini tavsiye etmisti. Kadin bu fikri hiç sevmemisti. Fakat adam çok kararliydi. Bir gün adam elinde balta ile kadina dogru yürüyerek su sözleri söylemistir ' Ne istiyorsun? Daha senin için ne yapayim? Seni sevmem yetmez mi ? ' dedi. Kadin ise ' Elinde balta,artik senin ellerin kirlendi. Eger beni sevseydin baltayla yürümezdin. Hadi öldür beni seni istemiyorum.. ' diyerek meydan okumustur. Kadin herseyi göze almistir ve el bileklerini uzatmistir. Son sözleri ' Hadi vur ' olmustur ve adam tek hamleyle kadinin ince ve narin bileklerini kesmistir. Bu haber tüm ülkeye ve daha sonra tüm dünyaya yayilarak efsane haline gelmistir.

During the Yi Dynasty, a woman had her husband die of an epidemic.
She was pretty, and faithful too. She decided that a woman of virtue marries but once and lived alone until one day an official, who was passing by the village, saw this beautiful widow and proposed her to come live with him. He took her by the hand, and pulled her, who said,
"I'll do whatever you want me to do. Just let go of my hand." Glad to hear her say that, he let her go. Hardly had her hand become free before she ran into her house to fetch an ax and said to him,
"You are such a brute. I am already committed to my dead husband, and how dare you put your dirty hands on me? This hand of mine got tainted because of you, and I can't let this hand dirty my whole body. I will cut this hand to wash the dirt from my body."
As soon as she finished her words, she cut her left hand off with the ax and killed herself on the spot. The news spread to the whole country until it reached the King, who was impressed by her faithfulness and ordered a monument erected where she killed herself.
