Jangneung (Yeongwol)



Bu kabir Joseon Hanedanligi'nin 6. Kral'i Danjong'un (1441-1457) kraliyet kabridir. Kral Munjong ve Gwon ailesinden Kraliçe Hyeondeok’un ogludur. Kral Danjong dogduktan bir gün sonra, annesini kaybetmistir. Yedi yasinda iken Kral’in en büyük torunu anlamina gelen Wangseson adini aldi. 1450 yilinda da babasi Kral Munjong tahta oturunca Veliaht Prens oldu. Kral Munjong tahta geçtikten 2 yil, 4 ay sonra öldü. Böylece Danjong 12 yasindayken tahta geçti.

Kral Sejong'un 18 Prensi arasindan, Prens Suyang'in çok büyük bir hirsi ve yetenegi vardi. Kiliçla siyasal rakiplerini yere serdi ve gücü ele geçirdi (Gyeyujeongnan). Kral Danjong , 1454'te Song Hyeonsu' nun kizini aldi. (Yani Kraliçe Jeongsun) ya aldi. Danjong, tacini amcasi Prens Suyang’a birakti böylece Kral olma hakkindan vazgeçmis oldu. Kral Sejo'nun hükümetine karsi gelen ve isyan eden Kral Danjong’un ünvani Prens Nosan’a düsürüldü ve Yeongwol, Cheongnyeongpo 'ya sürgüne gönderildi. Asil olmayan kimse olarak ünvani alindi.

1457 yilinda 17 yasindayken öldürüldü. Eom Hongdo, Danjong’un cesedini Donggang Nehri’ne atti ve gizlice Dongeuljisan Dagi’na gömdü. 1698 yilinda Kral Danjong hükümdarligi döneminde Prens Nosan, Kral Danjong ünvanini aldi. Atalara iliskin belgesi Kraliyet ailesinin korumasina alindi. Kral Sukjong, Danjong’un gizlice gömüldügü yeri buldu ve buraya Jangneung (Yeongwol) kraliyet mezarini yaptirdi.

This is the royal tomb of the 6th King Danjong (1441-1457) of the Joseon Dynasty. Being a son of King Munjong and Queen Hyeondeok from the Gwon family, King Danjong lost his mother just one day after his birth. He was installed as Wangseson (the Eldest Grandson of the King) at the age of eight, and became the Crown Prince when King Munjong ascended the throne in 1450. Following the death of King Munjong after two years and four months of his reign, he ascended the throne at the tender age of 12.

Among 18 princes of King Sejong, Prince Suyang had a high ambition and great talent. He eliminated his political opponents with the sword and seized the power. This is the Gyeyujeongnan. King Danjong received a daughter of Song Hyeonsu as a queen (Queen Jeongsun) in 1454. And he gave up his crown to his uncle, Prince Suyang and lost his power to be the abdicated king. When the opposition against the ruling of King Sejo grew and a rebellion broke out at last to restore the abdicated king, King Danjong was degraded to Prince Nosan and exiled to Yeongwol. Banished in Cheongnyeongpo of Yeongwol, King Danjong was degraded again to the level of a commoner from Prince Nosan. He was killed in 1457 when he was 17 years old. Eom Hongdo took care of Danjong’s corpse dumped in the Donggang River and secretly buried it on the edge of Mt. Dongeuljisan. Later, in 1698, when King Sukjong reigned, Prince Nosan was posthumously reinstalled and received the title of King Danjong. His ancestral tablet was placed in the ancestral shrine of the royal family and the title Jangneung was granted as the name of the tomb. King Sukjong found the place where the secret burial was made and created the Jangneung in that area.
