Changnyeong-eup'un dogusunda Hwawangsan Dagi'nda insa edilmis bir tastan dag kalesidir. Insa edilis tarihi belli degildir, fakat Üç Hanedanlar Dönemi'nden (M.Ö. 76 - M.S. 668) önce kurulmus gibi görünüyor ve Gaya Dönemi kalesi oldugu düsünülmektedir.

Kuzeyinde kaya dag zirveleri arasina yaslanmis ve çevrelenmis bu kale oldukça büyüktür.

Changnyeong, bati Gyeongsam eyaletinin trafik ve askerî bölge babinda stratejik bir nokta olan Nakdonggang Nehri yakininda bulunan bir ambar idi, böylece kale kale önemli bir rol oynamis olabilir.

Kalenin bati girisi, zamanin yikici etkisine dayanamamis, fakat dogu kapisinin her iki yanindaki duvarlar saglam kalmistir.

Joseon Hanedani'nin (1392-1910) Büyük Kral Sejong zamaninda yapilan cografik belgeye göre kale, Changnyeong'u korumak ve ayrica Yeongsan ve Hyeonpung'u savunmak için stratejik bir nokta olmustu.

It is a stone mountain fortress constructed on Mt. Hwawangsan in the east of Changnyeong-eup. The year of the construction isn't clear, but it seems like to be built before the Three Dynasties Period (76B.C.-A.D.668) and thought to be the fortress of the Gaya period (42-532).

The fortress is rather large while leaning against the rock mountain in the north and encircling the between the peaks.

Changnyeong was a granary near the middle stream of Nakdonggang River, a strategic point as the traffic and the military area in the western Gyeongsam province, so the fortress might have been played an important role.

The west entrance of the fortress has completely given way to the ravages of time, but the walls at both sides of the east gate remain intact.

There was an army supply depot, nine wells and three ponds inside its 2,600-meter-long stonewall.

According to historical literature published during the reign of King Seongjong (1469-94), the fortress was not used for a long time.

It was put into use during the Japanese Aggression (1592-98) by General Gwak Jaeu, who was famous for his crimson armor.

After a several times of repair since then, the fortress has a relatively good level of preservation.

According to the geographic record made in the reign of The Great King Sejong of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), the fortress was the strategic point to protect Changnyeong and also defend Yeongsan and Hyeonpung.
