Five Storied Stone Pagoda in Tamni, Uiseong

Birleşik Silla Dönemine ait olan bu taş pagoda Gyeongsangbuk Eyaletinin Uiseong İlçesindeki Tap-ri içinde yer almaktadır.

Tek katmanlı bir zemin üzerinde duran bu beş katlı pagoda; hem tuğladan pagodaların hem de ahşap pagodaların mimari tekniklerini sunması bakımından eşsizdir. Ahşap mimarileri takliden, zeminde ayrı taşlar kullanılarak yapılmış temel direkleri ve köşe kolonları vardır.

Birinci katı diğer katlardan uzun olup gövdesinde bir oyuk bulunmaktadır.

İkinci kattan itibaren pagodanın gövdesi gittikçe küçülmektedir.

Her katın çatısı alt ve üst taraftan tuğladan pagodalarda olduğu gibi, kademeli olarak içeriye dogru çekilmiştir.

Kademelerin altı beş basamaklı, üstü altı basamaklıdır.

Çatı taşları ahşap yapılara benzer şekilde köşelerden biraz kalkıktır.

Bu pagoda ve Bunhwangsa Tapınağı'ndaki taş pagoda (National Treasure No: 30) , kendine özgü biçim ve tarzları ile Kore'de ki pagodaların gelişimi için büyük önem taşımaktadır.

Five Storied Stone Pagoda in Tamni, Uiseong (Three Kingdoms Period)

This stone pagoda dating to the Unified Silla period is located in Tap-ri, Uiseong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.

With a five-story body standing on a single-tier foundation, this pagoda is very unique in that it displays the architectural styles of both brick and wooden pagodas. In imitation of wooden architectures, the foundation has central pillars and corner columns, both of which are made of separate stones.

The first story, which is taller than the other stories, has a niche on its body.

From the second story up, the bodies of the pagoda grow notably shorter.

The roof of each story is stepped on both the under and upper side as in brick pagodas.

The under side is five-stepped; the upper six-stepped.

The roof stones are slightly upturned at the corners, patterned after wooden structures. Along with the stone pagoda at the Bunhwangsa Temple site (National Treasure No.30), this pagoda is of great importance for the development of pagodas in Korea with its unique form and style.
