Doo-Ri Chung

Doo-Ri Chung, 1973 doğumlu aslen Koreli ama Amerika'da yaşamakta olan bir moda tasarımcısıdır.

Kariyeri

1995 yılında "Parsons School of Design" adı verilen okuldan en iyi dereceyle mezun oldu. Mezuniyetinin hemen ardından Geoffrey Beene'in yanında işe başlayan Chung sekiz yıl boyunca orada çalıştı ve yükselerek baş tasarımcı pozisyonuna geldi. 2001 yılında Chung ailesinin isi olan kuru temizleme dükkanına yönelerek kendi ile şirketlerinin temelini atmış oldu.

Chung,kendi tasarımı olan "jersey dress" adı verilen giysi ile tanındı.(Bu giysi örgü işi yapılmış olan bir tür elbise). Aslında o bu tür bir kıyafet tasarlayarak ilerlemeyi planlamıyordu ancak şimdi bu onun simgesi olmuş durumda. 2008'in sonlarında ise ayakkabı tasarlamaya başladı.

Ödülleri:

*2004 yılında finalist Vogue/Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Fund Award finalist olarak kaldı ancak alamadı.

*2005 yılında bayan giyimde çıkarmış olduğu İlkbahar-Yaz koleksiyonuyla beraber, 2006 yılında Council of Fashion Designers of America'dan Swarovski's Perry Ellis Award for emerging talent in womenswear ödülüne layık görüldü.

*Yine 2006 yılında nihayet Council of Fashion Designers of America / Vogue Fashion Fund Award ödülüne kavuştu. Tüm bu ödüllerle beraber 200.000 Amerikan doları ve Monblanc tatilleri beraber geldi.

2006 yılında Jeff Grren ile evlilik yapan Chung, çalışmadığı zamanlarda gezmeyi, gazete okumayı ve yemek pişirmeyi seviyor.

Training and work experience

Chung graduated from Parsons School of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion in 1995. After receiving her degree, Chung worked for Geoffrey Beene for six years, rising to the position of head designer. In 2001, Chung started her own firm in the basement of her parents' dry cleaning business. The firm remained there for the next four years.

Chung is best known for her jersey dresses, which have a unique drape. Chung has stated that she has no plans to move away from creating such dresses, as she now has a steady clientele. Chung will introduce a shoe line in fall 2008.

In 2004, Chung was a finalist for the Vogue/Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Fund Award.[2]

Awards

Chung won the Swarovski's Perry Ellis Award for emerging talent in womenswear from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in June 2006. Chung's award was based on her 2005 Spring and Fall collections. Also in 2006, Chung won the Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund Award.This $200,000 prize also came with a Lexus and a Montblanc watch.

Personal life

In 2006, Chung married Jeff Green.When not working, Chung enjoys travel, cooking, films, and reading the newspaper.[/b]
