Dağdaki Janggoksa Tapınağı'nın ana binasında kutsal bir yere koyulmuştur.

Chilgapsan, Chungcheongbuk-do'daki Chungyang, Buda'nın bu fotoğrafında başının etrafında bir hale olduğu görülmektedir.

Bu heykel, dörtgen şeklindeki taştan yapılmış olan koskocaman heykel tabanı üzerine oturtulmuştur. Heykelin kafası kabaca bir işlem görmüş olup yüzünün yuvarlak ve zarif bir görünümü vardır.

Sanat tarihçileri 9. yüzyılda yapılmış olan bu eserin saygın ve asil bir duruşunun olduğunu düşünüyor.

Günümüzde yaşamayanlar için belli bir şekli olmayan bu kapta bir ilaç olduğuna inanılır ve sol elini kucağına koymuş bir şekildeyken sağ el ise sembolik el hareketi olan "yeryüzüne dokunuyor" pozisyonundadır.

Sağ omuz açıkta bırakıp sol omuzu örten cüppesi gerçekçi detaylar olmaksızın gevşek bir biçimde işlem görmüştür.

Heykelin dörtgen şeklindeki tabanı heykelin kendisinden daha görkemlidir.

Üç parçadan oluşmuştur.

Heykelin tabanını oluşturan parçaların her biri bir üst parçaya göre daha geniş ve kalındır. Kutsal bir yere koyulmuş olan bu Buda heykeli, yapının tamamının en küçük parçası olan dört köşeli bir sütundan oluşturulmuş taş platformla desteklenmiştir.

Alt tabanının dört köşesinde de aşağı doğru kıvrılmış olan taçyapraklarıyla çiçek benzeri kulplarla lotus çiçeği ibareleri vardır.

Orta tabanına iri gözler ve üst parçasına da kabarık taçyapraklarıyla lotus çiçekleri oyulmuş. Heykelin, sonradan yapılma bir ahşapla değiştirilmiş olmasına rağmen orjinalinde taştan yapılmış hale benzeri bir ışık halkasının olduğu düşünülmektedir.

Bu çalışmanın kenarlarında ateş desenleri ve heykelin etrafında çiçek desenlerinden Silla sonu ile Goryeo başlarında yapılmış olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. 9. yüzyıl sonuyla onu takip eden 10. yüzyıl başlarındaki stilin ustaca uygulandığı bir eser olup kale gibi eşsiz bir heykel tabanı, mabetin yapısı ve demir heykelin zarif stili gösterilmektedir.

Enshrined in the main building of Janggoksa Temple in Mt.

Chilgapsan, Chungyang of Chungcheongbuk-do, this image of Buddha has a wooden halo around the head.

The image is seated high on the huge pedestal made of quadrangular stone. The head of the image is roughly treated and the face has round and graceful look.

Art historians believe from the dignified posture and volume of the stature that the work was made in the late 9th century.

The right hand is in the position of "earth-touching" mudra, while the left hand is placed on the lap on which, it is believed, a medicine pot is laid, which doesn't exist today.

The robe, covering the left shoulder with the right shoulder exposed, is treated loosely without realistic details.

The quadrangular pedestal looks more magnificent than the statue.

It is made of three parts.

The lower base is wider and higher than the rest. The stone platform, which forms the lowest part of the total structure, has traces of the four corner pillars which should have supported the enshrined image of Buddha.

The lower base has inscription of lotus flowers with the petals curved downward, and each of the four corners has a ear-like flower.

In the mid base large eyes are engraved and in the upper base lotus flowers were inscribed with their petals raised. The image is believed to have had a halo-like nimbus originally made of stone, although it was later replaced by a wooden one.

It is certain from the flower patterns around the statue and the flame patterns at the edge that the work was made between the late Silla and the early Goryeo. This is a masterful work of the early 10th century succeeding to the style of the late 9th century that shows unique pedestal like tower, the structure of a shrine, and the graceful style of iron statue.
